Well i work for at&t and while working on a customers phone i found a 1980 fiat spider buried in a garage under junk. guy said it has not been driven or started since 2001. talked to the guy and i finally bought it from him for 200 dollars. Took him a 2 days to dig it out. i come over put a battery in it checked all the fluids pulled the coil wire turned it over and then tried to start it and IT STARTED!!!!!!! Give the guy my 200 bucks drove it home (did you know brake fluid will evaporate over time) had no brakes good thing the emergency brake works. electrical was all screwed up finally got it all working. Thanks to this website it has helped me a ton. and found parts. when i figure out how to post pics i will post them

That is a classic story about spiders. Unlike other cars that sit for short periods and cant be started, there are numerous stories of spiders sitting for years and starting.
Good Luck, lets see some pictures and before you drive it much further, let the crew here help you with a list of the things that you should fix, refill or replace before your next extended drive.

And its called YELLOW

It looks like a tan or off white under the hood and trunk. What was the original color.

Wow. A good looking, running car for $200! I gotta start keeping my eyes open when I'm at customer's houses.

Re: new member from sw missouri
you have no idea how screwed up the electrical was. i have spent a month and half working on it, the hazard switch is missing and he didnt know how to bypass the switch so he ran wiring to every light and added relays to make the turn signal work with a rocker switch he installed in the dash....doesnt have the right console has a 78 console in it. radiator switch wasnt hooked up. horn was broke. crappy connectors that are 29 yrs old.there is some rust holes in the floor on the drivers side floor pan not bad no real rust other than that. But keeps me out of the house away from the wife.
Re: new member from sw missouri
sounds like a wonderful winter project. and maybe next spring too. glad you were able to rescue her from the rust worms.
