Hi All.

Just bought my first Spider a few weeks ago and can't wait to get started on the restore. She's a 78 in pretty good shape. Just needs some TLC. I'm starting on it this weekend with my dad. He has been doing paint and body professionally for about the last 30 years. He's going to help make her real pretty.

I've been looking at parts and making my wish list and was wondering if anyone had any feedback on the dash and console covers I've been seeing. They are way cheaper than the full dash but I wanted to hear first hand how they look and fit. Any suggestions out there?

thanks!

Hi there,wecome to fiats.
You'll find the cars a bit tempremental at times but are also very capable of long distance drives.
If you are not in a panic about parts like your dash, take a bit of time and have a look at craigs list in your area for cars being parted out, they might be rusty but have a great dash. The parts for sale here sometimes might have bits you'll need to finish the car off nicely without having to go new.
Good luck, you'll have fun sourcing parts as much as working on the car.
Nice you have the expert help in the bodywork.

Welcome to the forum. What part of NC are you from? I'm in the Winston-Salem area. As far as dash and console caps, I hear they can lift and warp. I went ahead and bought repadded ones and paid premium price for them. I haven't been sorry. Make sure you post pics of your car when you have a chance.

I'm in Winston-Salem! Someone at work told me there were some Fiat guys around here. Sweet! What model do you have?

Isn't that awesome! You need to hook up with the local car club. We meet the second Tuesday of each month at Hot Shots on Stratford Rd right in front of the BB&T building.
Now, onto the models I have:
Here is a pic of my 1972 Spider at the beginning of the Moonshine Rally in Elkin, NC. We have several events year round that you'll enjoy, including tech sessions, junk yard jaunts, autocrosses and drives:
Image

This one is my 1971 Spider that I drive regularly. I especially have fun with it on the track at VIR:
Image

This one is my 1986 X19 I bought in July. It's an all original car with 35k miles and it's a fun little car to drive:
Image

This one is my 1978 24 hours of Lemons racecar. A bunch of us were going to drive it in the Kershaw, SC event but we developed an engine knock right before loading it on the trailer. We were devastated!
Image

This one is my SCCA X19 F-Prod racer. We're in the process of making room for it in the shop so we can get it race ready for next year. That ought to be a blast!
Image

I have a few others not worth mentioning laying around for parts and restoration projects. Email me for contact information and I'll let you know more of what's going on in our area. 2010 promises to be a Fiat filled year with the Fiat Freakout coming to NC in July. spyderlady71@yahoo.com

Welcome to the Forum. Denise has the parts depot and garages for all things Fiat. We enjoyed the Dixie-Fest last summer, its a beautifull town. I learned that a helmet is required for driving on 64! We will be attending the Fiat Freakout http://fiatlanciaunlimited.org/ Finished cars are not required as we like em all! I have attended without my Fiat, but is not as much fun!
