Dash clock repair...

Post by radiopilot »

Send me the non running dash clocks and I'll repair them if reasonable, I'll charge 25.00 to repair it and send it back running, for those I can't repair (beyond repair, i.e. gears are all toast, motor burned out, etc.) I'll return it or I'll replace the unit with a digital unit that runs on 12 volt power and will use the original Fiat clock face and would charge the 25.00 plus the cost of the new digital unit (Approx. $10.00), the clock will have the original hands or new hands if the old ones are bent, bad, etc. The clock may have to set the time differently than the original knob depending on whether you want the original setup or set up differently... I could get it to work with the knob so no one would know it's not the original clock... also the crystal will be cleaned and if needed have a new clear crystal set in... What say ye?

I have some time now before my new contract kicks in....

If interested send me a PM.

I'm surprised only one person took me up on this clock repair thing... Gotta return to my travel again next week, I thought there were lots of clouded glass/unoperating clocks out there but I guess not...

Folks, i'm the "one guy" who bit on the clock repair deal offered by Radiopilot. Boy am i glad i did. i sent Radiopilot a non-functioning clock (wouldn't run and the timeset knob did not work) with a badly fogged crystal. For very little money (and no effort on my part other than removing the clock from my instrument panel) he sent back an essentially new clock. It's beautiful, cleaned up, clear crystal, timeset knob now adjustable, and the clock works! Radiopilot oiled it before reassembly and test ran on 12v over night before sending back to me. Excellent communication, overall great experience. Thanks, terry

clock repair takes some patience, some knowledge, and a whole lotta ... time

thanks for picking this up. are you collecting clocks for this adventure, or just working on consignment? i have no current need as i struggled through my own restoration prior to this offer... but i do have a parts car that is being dismantled this weekend. i'd gladly forward the clock to you if it helps keep a Spider on the road.

Mike,

Yes, intricate small parts are my bag, I enjoy working with these gadgets and such. Really trying to get a pool of parts together to do more than just Fiat clocks, but other auto clock brands as well... The money charged is not to make a buck (buying acrylic sheet, gears, electronic parts, etc. take up most of this money), better to rework a classic clock than to buy a new, maybe inferior clock.

If you have non running clocks please send them to me and next time your clocks will be repaired at no cost other than shipping.

Cheers,

Nick

Nick,

I have a clock with the missing timeset knob. Can that be fixed oe is this a good candidate for a digital conversion?

Thanks,

Nick,

I've got a clock I can contribute to the cause. No glass, but otherwise appears to be intact. The timeset knob is there and functional, but could use a little cleanup. PM me an address and I'll send it right over.

One of these days I'll have another car, and it'll probably need a clock rehab. :)

I really do need to start reading all the posts! I thought this one was of someone wanting information on how to repair a clock, not an offer to do it! I probably have 4 or 5 clocks lying around and I could use a couple repaired. PM sent.

Nick,

My Fiat did not come with a clock as the turbo boost gauge takes up that space. However, I recently purchased a '71 Lancia Fulvia with a non-functioning clock. It is a Veglia Borletti, which I believe is identical to those used on Fiat 124s. Can i send you this one to take a look at? Please PM me with the info.

Thanks.

I don't think I have a clock at all. What would it cost to get a digital one? I like the upgrade.
Where do the clocks go in the car? Dash?
