Just bought a 1979 Spider 2000 this weekend.
Great original bodywork and nice interior. Looking forward to getting her up and running.
Turns over nicely but not getting fuel I think.
Also looking forward to finding out and sharing info in the forum from you guys!!

It looks like you scored a good one, Kwil. Welcome to the forum. You may get more responses to your no fuel problem if you post it in engine and tuning.
Good luck!

Re: New Member Seattle
Thanks guys.
I think the car looks beautiful. I have a lot of receipts that came with the car
that list work done. The odometer reads 34424 miles. I'm not sure if this is original
but the documentation that I have supports the previous owner only putting approx 10,000 on the clock
between 1988 and 2001. He listed all his oil and fluid changes with miles & dates.
I'm not that worried about the miles as the car is in such pretty shape. New hood installed too!
One question I do have and I'll post this one in the forum. The hood and trunk lids are a little out of alignment.
You can see it in my photos. Is this difficult to adjust?

1. if you are truly at 34k miles (and i have no reason to doubt) please check your records to be sure that a Timing belt change has been done, and that the flex-disk (guibo, rubber donut) has been changed. Else, prepare to make those changes immediately.
2. hood misalignment? seams or at the two corners closest to the windshield?
3. trunk misalignment? four bolts is all that takes.. four bolts and a little patience on your part.

Timing belt changed 10/28/91 at 29363 miles.
Should be alright there
Thanks for the advice on the hood and trunk. I'm a ways off from getting to that but its
one of those things that bugs me a little.

Re: New Member Seattle
sorry, i disagree. five years on rubber parts, especially those that are safety or critical items like the timing belt and guibo.
plan on replacing that Timing belt now.

Hi kwil, welcome to the forum. You got a pretty car there. Are you getting enough dry weather to take her out when you get it up and running?

Hey Ron
Don't think that'll be happening until spring.
The weather is pretty bad and I want to take time to get her running again.

LOL, the belt is 18 years old and Kwil says that it should be alright! Sounds like a new owner to me.kwil wrote:Timing belt changed 10/28/91 at 29363 miles.

Welcome and congratulations on your purchase. It will be fun. Make sure you get a service manual for the Spider so you know when to change things. Timing belt- 5 years or 30,000 miles, which ever comes first.
Re: New Member Seattle
Welcome aboard, it seems you've found yourself a nice little gem and a good project for the winter months. Definetly do the changes that have been mentioned. All the info you'll need to get it done can be found here, just do a search.
Good Luck!

Re: New Member Seattle
I kinda figured that would be the case, weather-wise. I was born and raised up there (So. Seattle, and then Lake Stevens), and had to move over to Tri-Cities when I got into construction because I was missing too much work because of the rain. Sometimes the ground would be so saturated we'd get shocked when we used a power tool.
