Automatic Transmission Hummmm
Automatic Transmission Hummmm
Made a stupid mistake.....I have a 1981 Spider with an automatic transmission. While bleeding my brakes I made a mistake when taking it off the jack stands and jacked the car up on the cross member which I now believe is the transmission mount, which secures to the body of the vehicle. Visually nothing seemed to move but now when I drive the car I get a slight vibration when the car shifts from 1-2 and my auto transmission is making a humming noise at higher rpms. It almost sounds like something is really tight maybe from disturbing the transmission mount. I looked back under the car and it look like the rubber inside the mount is ok but something metal around the rubber got smashed a bit by the jacking. I can tell that when it was jacked up the entire engine must have moved a little but it looks as if it went back into place when I took it off the jack. Any suggestions how to smooth this out or adjustments I can make, checks, etc?

Re: Automatic Transmission Hummmm
I may not understand your issue exactly, but I jack and support my car all the time from the crossmember. That shouldnt affect the tranny? I have never been under a A.T. car,so maybe it is a little different.Someone will chime in with some good advise.
