Chopped gear shift

Post by punes »

I recall seeing pictures of a chromed gear shift with a small section cut out to shorten it.
Has anyone seen this and have the link to it. I have a spare and might attempt it.
Thanks

done correctly, you'll never see the end result using a stock shifter boot.... so even a hack job on the welding should produce some eggcellent results.

of course... you COULD save a bunch of time and

Re: Michigan Short Shifter Cool product

Post by SpiderJim »

Just received my short shifter. Dealing with Mike was so easy and the product is of very high quality. Once that cursed console cover comes off the rest was quite easy. I tried everything to get that damed cover plate thing off without much success. So I used a small mirror and flash light to see what was going on. With the ash trey removed I used a large alan key to hook the short end under the corner lip and pushed down the longer end using it a fulcrum lever. Up popped the cover. The rest was easy and was exchanged in a few minutes. I did have to cut the end off my wooden shift knob to re-thread it back on. Unfortunately I cannot test drive it as yesterday I changed my shocks and have the car on stands awaiting my new wheels that are now delayed. One thing I did was a lot of Vaseline on the pins to help removal in the future.

Great product Mike... what else do you have?

sorry, at this time the SHORTER SHIFTER is the only thing in production. too many other distractions, family and a full time job keep the other ideas as nothing but ideas. maybe 2010 we can discuss Nerf Bumpers

Mbouse,

I knew what nerf bumpers were (old school guy after all) but I think you should consider the nerf ball idea. Then we could color match as well and mom might let me drive it in the house!
