Hi,
My name is Bart, i own 1969 AS Spider since 2 years now. It is one of the dream cars of my studentlife My wife and myself like to take it for drives around Brussels (B) and take it on tourist rallys several times a year.
It has been modified by the previous owner (1800cc engine with 2 IDF 40 Webers and bonnet with the 2 bulges) and needs bodywork done... but it drives prefectly!
I hope to learn alot in this great forum!
Anything i had to learn about the spider i have picked up on the internet and most of it here!
Bart

Welcome to the fourm, Bart, glad you found us. I envy you and your wife for having such beautiful countryside to drive your Spider in. Post some pics of your car for us, we enjoy seeing everyone's ride.

Nice! Welcome to the site. I like the 40's. How much power does that put out with the 40"s? I bet you It eats up some fuel.

Hello All
My name is Jim. Being a brit I have been a Brit car restorer for many years. I finally came to my senses a few weeks ago while searching for another ride to pretty up and compete in shows with. After many viewings and finding nothing worth while that still had body work in one piece. I came across a spider on ebay. Wow! why don't I just find one of those... such a cool car and remember drooling over them from my youth. So I began my search. I now live in Campbell River BC Canada with a second home in Las vegas. A desert car maybe? So I searched everywhere to find something in good shape at reasonable price. Nothing found. Then quite by accident I came across an old Craigs list add. What the heck I'll call it. Cut a long story short I am the new owner of 1980 Turin green Spider 2000 Fi that is totally original with 37K on the clock with records from new. Absolutely no rust or even a hint anywhere. Engine is smooth and very clean. So being the purist I am I will be rebuilding all of the mechanicles with new seals, rubber etc. The interior is original and perfect. However, I will strip and repaint to make it shine for concourse events.
My biggest dilemma is finding a mail order supplier in Canada for quick turn around. I have read this board and find it to be very helpful with great ideas and input. So everyone glad to be aboard.
regards Jim

Bart, its about time you get some SEM vinyl spray and cover that ratty cover. Are you letting the sun bleach it tan?
Car looks great and welcome.

Re: New member
actually, i think it is a tan cover that was painted black, only the black seems to be fading/coming of.
So yes, i will have to paint it,
have to convince my love of that, she likes the "old" look of the cover, whatever that may mean.
overall look of the car is good, bit it has some ugly points that i need to work on. i will be asking your advice shortly (have to make pictures first)
and i forgot: it has a 1970 radio, with ipod interface (diy, but works perfectly).
Thanks for the welcome!
