Just Signed Up and Saying Hello

Post by Exit98 »

Hi All,

Don't have a 124 right now, but I've been thinking about it more and more recently. Did you see the nice green one from St. Louis on ebay a few weeks ago? I spoke with the owner. I don't have the guts to buy a Fiat, or any car for that matter, via the internet, sight unseen. No one bid on it until the last hour or so, then it went for about $4,500. It looked excellent. Had it not sold I was considering flying out to see it (I'm in NJ), but alas, it was gone.

Of course, like I'm sure many others of you, I owned one in the distant past. A 1972, burgandy with tan, and the campy wheels. Bought it brand new and ran it into the ground. Only car, winters and summers, drove me nuts, and I loved it. Finally sold it for a used low-miles pampered 72 240Z. The Z car was a sweetheart too.

Anyway, for me, its got to be a 70 to 74 (?) small bumper car. They seem hard to come by, although lately they have been showing up on ebay. If anyone happens to have any leads I'd love to hear about them. East of the Mississippi practically speaking.

Anyway, sorry to be long winded. Hi everyone.

Hi Doug, welcome to the forum. You weren't long winded at all, your intro was concise and informative. Much better than "Hi, new to the forum."
You are like many of us here, a hankering to get a Spider back in our life after owning one years ago. Good luck in your search. Check back often, I'm sure you'll get lots of leads from members.

Hi, and welcome. Fiat Lancia Unlimited ( FLU ) has a group called DC fiats. They are a fairly large group, and may know of a Fiat to fill your garage! I would also check the local Craigslist. Then you can post alot of pics!!!

Hi Doug,
Welcome to the Forum! Where in NJ are you? I'm in Franklinville, South Jersey. I know someone in NJ that has two fiats. He might be willing to sell one. He lives up by Freehold. Let me know if your interested. I'll get in touch with him to find out.

Hi AZY,

Hey, I'm in Wall Township just a few miles from Freehold. It would be great to connect with your friend. Thanks for the offer.

Not sure I've ever been to Franklinville, though I suspect I've probably passed through it once or twice. Have you been to the new racetrace in Millville yet? I keep saying I'm going to go, but haven't done so yet.

Hi Doug,
Brady just gave me a call and advised that you might be looking for a Spider. I have one that I might be willing to part with. Not a beauty yet but it's on the way to getting there. It is a 1981 not a 70's model but it runs and handles great. Let me know if you woul have any intrest. I'm really not in any hurry to sell it as it does not take up alot of space and never complains.
Welcome to the site. Great to have another guy in the area. We have a small mutual support group that we are always willing to add to. We might take a ride down to LBI in the next couple of weeks. If we do, your welcome to come along. There is also a covered bridge tour with Fiat Lancia Unlimited coming up on Oct 4th. Once again welcome, George

P.S. You will love this site. Plenty of great folks here with lots of info and knowledge

Hi Bwilson27,
Here in Jersey the true NJ residents do not speak like that. We don't say " How u doin?" or " I live in Jerseee" Those are the escapee's from New York city that move to the Garden State. We sound just like the folks from your neck of the woods.
You should drive out for a visit. It is a really nice place. Bada Bing! George

Forgot to add<
Been to Arizona on vacation. One of our all time best vacations. Great place. I was robbed at Gun Point on the train from Williams to the Grand Canyon. Guy said he knew I had money because I don't spend it on hair cuts ( I am follicly challenged. Hair loss to those with hair) it was part of the show on the train. Spent 3 days at the canyon. Everyone should pay a visit to this wonder of nature. Drove all over the state in a rent a car. Saw the sunrise at Sedona via a Hot Air Baloon Ride. Great state to visit.

I know, I was just kidding yous.
My best friend, Brian Mosley, is from Trenton. He moved out to California when I was living there in Atascadero, and we became good friends. He used to crack me up with non-stop stories of Jersey. I feel like I know the place inside and out.
He eventually moved back to Trenton, and he keeps inviting me to come there, but I like wide open spaces...lol

I assume that there are so many Spider owners there because it was a port of entry for Fiat. At least that's my guess.

Welcome to the forum, there is a growing contingent of Jersey guys on the forum. Fun cars to drive and easy to work on, plus you get a lot of attention everywhere you go. There is a wealth of information on here about any topic you can dream of to fix up your car when you get it. Also some really good purchasing advice. If George's car doesn't work out I may also know a guy.

That's the other thing about us guys from Jersey. If you need anything, from cars to stuff to getting someone killed, we always "know a guy" for that.

Hi Denise,
Don't be shocked  Tony is only using a little Jersey humor  You have to live here to appreciate it. I on the other hand really do know the guy for that. He's in the gray bar hotel as a guest of the state. That is where he belongs. Missed you at the FFO. Did see GA spider and met your father. George
