I just bought an 1981 Fiat Spider 2000...let the headaches begin!
This is my first one...I'm a computer geek by trade and I decided to give up my desire for a motorcycle, instead getting a little car I can learn auto mechanics on and, hopefully, take my wife out for a spin in.

Welcome to the world of fiats.
You'll love your 81, it has a computer in it.
Way better choice if you want to take the better half out for a spin, top goes up easy if it gets wet out.
Feel free to ask questions,I'm so impressed with the expertise that is out there for dealing with these cars. Several will have an answer or several will have several answers and you pick.
Good luck and have fun.

Bryan,
i have two computers at home, and have two Spiders at home. they are mutually exclusive (thank heavens). i enjoy the Spiders much more than the computers. Much, much more.

Welcome, the computer in the Fiat wont help you, Its analog and not programmable. That is also the best thing about a Spider, its ride is analog compared to the computer aided rides of today/

Thanks for the welcome! I'll have pix soon and questions...pix with questions!
I've been making a list of the essential replacement parts I need to get. Also, I have a part which I cannot identify from any of the manuals I have, where a little antifreeze is leaking from. (I have a hose where a LOT of antifreeze is also leaking from! lol)

Lol... welcome!
I don't have any leaking rad fluid (well, not MUCH!) but it does leak oil.
I tell people, with na straight face, that it was designed, straight from the factory, to leak a little bit 'o oil, that's what makes it an Italian Sportscar!!
I went thru the same puzzle (bike or toy car), and the bike, while fun, is no where near as safe, or comfortable for TWO people (and a dog??)
Enjoy

Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, we have decided to turn off the light at the end of the tunnel. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Hi Bryan, welcome to the site. Good going, getting manuals for your car, but if you get stumped, don't hesitate to use this forum to get help. It's such a popular site, a question is usually answered very quickly.
