Battery corrosion clean up

What is the best way to clean up and prevent battery corrosion and acid build up? I have a bunch of that white stuff built up in the bottom of my battery box.

baking soda and water, but that can be messy in the trunk. I'd use a shop vac, then wire brush it. Undercoat or paint it after it's all cleaned up

To prevent its return, make sure you have CLEAN contacts and terminals to start with. It also helps to have a clean battery top.

Dielectric grease, moderately applied keeps air, and subsequently moisture off the connection.
