I just bought a 1979 2000 at auction. I need a tan passenger seat, a drivers side taillight, and a convt top and carpets. I'd like to buy from someone local. Also, does anyone know of a Fiat mechanic doen here in So CAl?

Our moderator on the forum, Mark Allison, is in Uplands , I guess though that is a bit of a drive from San Diego.
When you come accross problems/issues,try posting here. If you have a modicum of mechanical ability and a few metric tools, you'll find the cars easy to work on and rather enjoyable at times.
I understand getting the cars through smog can be frustrating but Mark and perhaps someone down your way can help.
Welcome by the way and have fun.
If you are wanting parts, try posting in the parts wanted post.

Re: New member in San Diego
Hello from Lancaster (Ca.) Welcome to the forum. Narfire's right, if you have issues passing smog with your 79, it would be worth the trip up to Upland. Mark is the go to guy when it comes to knowing what it takes to pass. And your year is the topper for smog add ons, the 80's coming to California went to FI. You should think about getting a couple of maintenance manuals for your car, it makes things a lot easier to work on it, which most owners prefer doing.
There are a couple members in your area, hopefully, one of them will chime in with knowledge of mechanics down there.
