Considering a 1978 spider my son bought in 2007 to recoup some money loaned I would probably not recover otherwise(kids, go figure). Drove the car a short distance, engine seems OK. Steering has lots of play, body is pretty good( some rust in fender well lips, around badge on trunk lid, bottom of winshield, left hood bracket completely detached, paint is good), oil dripping from bottom of distributor onto exhaust shield, leaking gasoline from the filler neck connection to the tank(I think). Only experience with 124s is my younger brother had a new one in 1974. Should I have my head examined?

Na.. you don't need your head examined..Fiats are therapy (Fix It--And Therapy) I've just bought 2 -72's now my 80 is more or less sorted. Have fun, sounds like you have a couple of saturdays work to do.

Welcome Pappy. It sounds like you have a few small issues to deal with but nothing too major. Post pics when you have a chance. Not sure why Craig told you his wife was a nurse...you don't sound crazy to me.

Thanks for the welcome all y'all. Craig, you may regret the offer to email for help, I'll try
not to be a pest. I know what you mean about the north georgia roads, I've been riding miatas
and motorcycles there for the past 17 years. Like to stop for lunch at turners corner cafe.
I just found out my son-in-laws brother has a garage with a lift at his house in jasper, that should
make jobs easier if I go thru with this deal. The spider would be cool to take the grandkids for an
occasional ice cream ride.

Hello Pappy, welcome to the forum. A little late, I know, but I just got back from a little trip up north. You're lucky being in Craig's neighborhood, I'm sure he'll be a big help to you. Just don't try to keep up with him on those roads!

Welcome to the forum from the OTHER Canton in Ohio. Most of the issues you mention seem fairly minor. You'll be surprised how inexpensive and readily available parts are. And with an expert like Craig nearby, you can't go wrong!

Click on "user control panel" in the upper left hand corner of your screen. You will then see a series on links on the left side of your screen. Choose "manage drafts". You should then see a list of any drafts you have saved. You can open the draft, edit it, and then submit it for posting.
