Track Wagon

Post by joshuagore »

I helped a buddy with installing some sway bars, and getting some coilovers for his Subaru and he invited to treat me to a full day track event at the Autobahn Country Club in Joliet Illinois. Normally I like to hit the track without a group, unless of course I am racing, but I made an exception and checked the nuts and bolts on my BMW wagon and head out early Sunday AM to the track.

The track day mostly consisted of EVO's, STi's, 240's and some race cars. Obviously my homely 535i wagon couldn't hang on the straights, but I made sure to tail ass hard in the turns. It highlighted just how much things have not changed. You can bring turns to the drag racer, but don't expect them to love to turn. Don't get me wrong there were a few key drivers which were great, awesome, even excellent, but I can't count how many times I didn't want to signal a pass by just to force a lesson.
Ok rant off... I am not a pro by any means.

It was a great day overall, sliding the beast around reminded me of just why I need to finish up my spider, and ensure it has a roll cage ;)

I have a ton of pics and vids, but I will post this teaser because I am at work.

Glad you had a good time. Your rant reminds me of a day at VIR after our car show when the muscle cars made a lot of noise but couldn't take the turns if their life depended on it. I was running up on them in my little 4 banger and getting more irate by the minute.
