wham... nuthing!
Re: wham... nuthing!
This takes me back to 1974 and a chance to tell my story. If I remember right it was a two lane highway.....one going, one coming. Had kind of the same experience but this was while I was driving around midnight from California to Nevada in the middle of nowhere. The only lights were from oncoming traffic and I think there were only two cars on the road at that time. Going along real smooth enjoying the ride in my 72 Fiat with the top down, and all of a sudden wham... nuthing. All power, lights, everything just went out. Coasted to the shoulder and prayed no one would plow into me. To make it worse it was back in the day when there were no cell phones. After about 10 minutes wondering what to do I truned the key and presto...started right up and finished the hour journey back home. 35 years later it has never repeated.

Werent you stopped at a railroad crossing with the crossing sign blinking and shuttering violently from left to right and a tremendously bright light from above flooding your car?

I was mistaken about the loose battery wire being my culprit, my starter solenoid is dying. It will only work if I knock it on the noggin. I'm not looking forward to the swapout.
Thanks a lot Mike.

thats odd , mine is dieing too , and all of this started when mark started selling those reduction gear lightweight ,easy to swapout starters .... i'm starting to think we better inform Scully and mulder on this one ...

Fact A: Mark has a reputation for being able to travel great distances, seemingly instantaneously.
Fact B: Mark sells a very nice gear reduction starter.
Fact C: Starters are dying at an alarming rate, seemingly everywhere.
I'm positive fact C is totally unrelated to facts A&B.

Re: wham... nuthing!
my feeling is that starters are failing due to increased sun spot activity
