If your opening them up anyway i'dd suggest you drill little holes in the gauges housings ,apply smog-x on the inside after thorrow cleaning , and find some of those silicum bags that they put with electronical equiptment somewhere inside the gauge
be aware that the rings are easy damaged , i would think ahead and buy some of those chrome rings on ebay , these you need to glue on and best is to use 2 component glue and let them dry for at least 24 hours or you pull them right back off when you reinstall
