tachometer problems

Post by Gary »

Any Ideas? my1979 spider 2000 had not been driven for 8 years when I got it, after getting it home i found that it had a problem with the (GM style) module (under the coil) my neighbor who is a gm man loaned a module to me to test. The spider started right up and ran fine. THE tach worked fine! I when ahead an purchased a new module and gave the neighbor 's back to him. After installing the new module the tachometer has not worked. It wiggles when starting the car but nothibg more. I have checked all wires have power from the coil to the tack the ground seems ok. i hooked up a spare coil/module combo nothing and another tach (both are used but seem ok) nothing. I thought that the tach was bad, but now think it is a wire but which one-----any ideas

Ask the neighbor for his module and give him the new one. Here's how I have my coil wired:
B+ post blue/black, red (goes to module), black (goes to condensor)

- post brown wire, black wire (goes to module)
