'82 in Naples FL
'82 in Naples FL
Found on Ebay, had spent its entire life in Daytona, 32K miles. Very good condition, working on AC, has original installed, but did not work when we changed over to new freon. Needs a paint job, and radio antenna in wrong place, other than that, happy with it. Had a '78 124, drove it from Miami to Seattle & back in '79, so its a time trip.

Welcome to the forum, from another South Floridian.
This is a great site with lots of helpful members. I have an '83 and I pulled all the A/C stuff off. The previous owner butchered the A/C system.

Hello, and welcome to the forum. It's obvious that you did your research before acquiring your Spider. You got the year considered the best ever made! Although there may be a few who disagree, we who also own 82s know the real truth.
Let's see some pics of your new car when you get a chance.
My father in law lives in your town, maybe we'll meet up one day.

Many disagree with Ron, but i bet not you. congrats on the purchase of the '82.
i'd like to hear your theory on how you decided that the radio antenna is in the "wrong" position. and, waiting for those pictures...

Re: '82 in Naples FL
Thanks for the welcome guys. I will try to get some pics this weekend. The radio antenna is on the front driver side, which I thought was wrong, I assumed all fiats had antenna on rear, even it its correct as is, it bugs me. Gotta get that ac working.

Re: '82 in Naples FL
From what I've heard, many radios were dealer installed so the antenna location can vary. The antenna on my '82 was obviously added and is on the pass fender, but I found an antenna cable was part of the rear wiring harness, so I'm sure this would be the "correct" location.

Welcome from another native Floridian and owner of the finest year for Spiders...the 82!! I left the SoFla area 10 years ago for the Georgia mtns.I only miss Fla. when it is too cold to drive with the top down here. The antenna can be any where,as the cars didnt come here with a radio.Mine is on the drivers side rear fender.Good luck and please get some pix posted.

antenna were mounted here in the states by the dealers, or a subsequent owner. so, locations vary.
Re: '82 in Naples FL
Another 82' Spider in Florida! Once again another Genius surfaces. Seems as though you make many good decisions, you probably have a beautiful wife who loves cars as well. Welcome to the forum, we should be getting close to having enough Fiats down here to do a rally of some kind. There seems to be a fare amount of Spiders in your area. The sunsets in your area make nice back drops for Spider photos. Hint-hint...post pics.

Re: '82 in Naples FL
'81 and '82 models were pretty much identical, so you can be forgiven for hanging onto your '81 Welcome to the site. FWIW, my antenna is mounted on the driver's side rear fender and it is a power antenna. I replaced it with one that actually works, but I still have the original.
