Denise,

You don't have a stock carb, do you? If not, then the water heated choke may have been deactivated.

Without looking, I'm guessing they are a pair of about 1/4-5/16" black hoses that connect to the back side of the carb (side nearest the firewall) about 1/2" apart.

The theory is, with nose in the air, pour coolant in at the rad, and allow air to be pushed out the choke hose. When nothing but coolant comes out the choke hose, then the air is gone.

the choke hoses are higher than the rad, so final filling should be thru the choke hose with the rad cap on. Denises' car is manual choke I believe, so no choke heater hoses

nice thing about the fuel injected cars yopu can get the air out at the intake manifold heater just losen one of the hoses and let the air out
