Hello from newbie

Post by tinman427 »

Hi my name is Rob and I own a 1982 Spider. I have viewed the forum before and have found it full of very useful info. I'm located in NY but my car is located in our other home in Fl. I was just down there two weeks ago and had to replace fuel pump, relay and one fuel injector, but I'm glad to say the car is back to running the way it should.

hi rob. welcome to the site.

you are in NY and the car is in FL ?? doesn't that make going for ice cream with the top down a little difficult?

Not difficult. It just takes me a little longer. I inhereted the house a few years ago and my father and I had gone partners on the Spider before that. I have a 77 Lancia Scorpion up here that I'm just starting to tear apart for resto. We go down to Florida for the races in Feb. and for three weeks in July so thats about the only time the Spider is driven. It only has 32,000 miles

Welcome to the site Rob. Do you have any pictures of the Spider that you can post, we'd love to see it.
What kind of shape is the Scorpion in? We'd like to see it too.

is it my imagination, or is the side molding on the passenger side completely different than on the driver's side?

That's an 82, alright. I'd recognize it anywhere. I wish my seat belt receivers still had the outer support on them like yours does. Yours reminds me of my younger years!

I started to remove the thick black molding which sandwiches the chrome molding.I don't know if the previous owner had put the black molding on, but I think it looks better with just the chrome strip.Rob

well, i don't disagree. all of that side molding is either dealer or previous owner add-on. none of it came from the factory.

Where are you located in NY? I'm in Queens, in the city.

I'd love to find another spider owner around here to help me on some of the little nagging problems I can't figure out.

I actually came head on with an identical red spider like mine the other day when I was cruising around, but we passed each other to fast to be able to turn around on the busy main thoroughfare. I lost him! Aaarrgh! What are the chances of that ever happening again?

I live in Babylon, NY. I used to live in Florsl Park, Queens but moved to Babylon in 2003. The Fiat is at our other house in Port Orange, Florida, which is just South and on the western side of the intercoastal waterway. I go down there for the February 500 race and for three weeks in July for 400 race. Rob

Well, Babylon is still close. Any chance of your Fiat coming up north anytime soon?
