Cross Country Travel

Post by ventura ace »

Maureen and I are making a rush cross country trip from Ventura, CA to the Charlotte, NC area, and would welcome the opportunity to share a meal along the way with any of you folks that can match this crazy schedule. We’re driving a Minivan and have a little room to carry stuff for anyone along our route. The plan is to deliver the car to our daughter and husband, who live near Charlotte – so the offer to carry stuff is just in the Eastward direction. The car will already be partially filled with some doors and a hood, that were scheduled to be transported Eastward by another Fiat acquaintance later this summer.

We hope to leave on Tuesday evening, April 28 and drive pretty much straight through to arrive in Charlotte area sometime Thursday or Friday. The route will be Ventura to Pasadena (to pick up the Fiat parts that are there), then I-15 to I-40, and I-40 through Needles, Flagstaff, Albuquerque, Amarillo, OK City, Little Rock, Memphis, Nashville Knoxville, Ashville, and on in to Charlotte. We will be switching off driving, and only plan to stop for fuel and breaks for eating, and would welcome the opportunity to share a meal along the way with any of you folks that can match this crazy schedule. If interested, contact me and I will keep you up to date on our predicted ETA at points along the way.

Also, I still have some Fiat doors, trunk lids, hoods, etc. that can be had for a song (as long as you can sing in key!). The doors are all the ‘75 – ‘78 design, but would fit the later cars, I think. Modification of door latches would be necessary to put these doors onto an early’67 – ’74 car (not recommended, unless you have no other options).

The doors are all completely stripped down as shown in these pictures in photobucket.

More details of the doors can be seen in these pictures (link below) from a few years ago, but as I said, I have disassembled all the doors. The doors available are sets #3, 4, 6, and 9 (Driver and Passenger), and Passenger doors #10, and #11.

The other parts available are a few trunk lids (#1,2,3,5,6 ), WW cowlings (#1,2,3,4), 1 chrome rocker panel, a couple of 131 hoods, a 131 trunk lid, and a mystery hood (124CC coupe maybe???).

Look in each sub-album to find the pictures.

Anyone interested to arrange transport for your stuff, or to meet for a meal, or to claim and of these items above, please contact me by phone, since I may not have time to check the Forum in the short time that we have to prepare for the travel.
