I have just recently become the proud owner of a 1977 124 Sport. It was a rescue from the crusher through Ruidoso, NM.
I purchased the car for a restoration. The body and mechanicals are solid (free of rust) but the interior is missing and there is not much left under the hood, except the motor which was running for me until I pulled it. I'll need allot of help and I will be looking for parts as the budget allows. Thank you, and have a great day!

Re: Checking in From New Mexico
finding a parts car with a complete interior is gonna eventually be really high on your priority list. Hopefully, you have room for both a project car and a parts car.
seats are EXPENSIVE to ship, regardless of the quality.
door panels are easily reproduced if you have a pattern available. if not, a good upholsterer can guide you thru the process.
the rest is no more than a phone call or email away....much of it right here at this forum.
of course, you MUST start taking pictures and sharing them with us now. welcome to the site

I'm greatly pleased to welcome a new member who has rescued a great car from the crusher. Good going Escargot.
Please post pictures of your car soon.

Thank you for the warm wishes and offers. I do like to travel, and have family and friends around the country that have offered to help me out. I want to do some custom stuff to my 124 without desecrating it! I also plan on taking it slow and easy, at least at first. I do need to share some pictures and here is the link:

I use Picasa, if it isn't working out then I will check out Photobucket.
I got cold feet after I bought the car, but figure that selling the tranny and any other parts could get me what I have in it, so I relaxed a little. I felt very in over my head, but decided to take small bites, and not put to much pressure on myself, after all I live where I can drive top down almost all year 'round.
Thank you,
Gary

Good job posting the pics. I see by your signature line that snails had found a home. Better that than the normal inhabitants: mice (and the resultant odor.)
