Howdy Y'all

Post by lmrgdn »

Just joined yesterday. I had a '69 124 when I was in high school and hated giving it up when I got married.
Still looking for my next Spider and figured this was a good place to get reunited with my favorite car.
Let me know if you can help me find a pre '72. I'm in Mississippi now but will travel to get the right car.
Like what I've seen on the site so far and can't wait to be a member who OWNS a Spider again!

Thanks Chris,
I'll check e-bay again.
Anyone have an experience buying a car at auction site like e-bay?

Welcome to the group Lamar. I personally wouldn't buy a car on e-Bay - too many variables. But Peter Egan got his '53 Caddy that way! Have you tried the Auto Trader? There are five newer Spiders for sale there in Ontario alone, so who knows what you'd find closer to home. Good luck. :)

Thanks Peter!
I did find TWO for $500 sixty miles away in the Trader . A rusted out beater (you could see asphalt under the pedals in the pic) and a parts donor. Unfortunately the guy wouldn't hold them for me and they were gone when I got there the next morning...waAAA!!!

Welcome to the forum Imrgdn. I have bought two vehicles on Ebay. The first was a box van for my business. I bought it sight unseen, went totally by the owner's description. I flew from So Cal to Minnesota and paid for it, jumped in and drove srtaight through back home. This was four years and 80,000 miles ago and it's still going strong. I got my 82 Spider on Ebay also. However, it was about 80 miles from me, so I was able to go down and look it over before bidding. I've had very good luck buying on Ebay, I just pay close attention to the feedback.
Good luck in your search, I hope you end up with a goodie.

The one on ebay is in Minnisota I don't know how to link but it needs some work and has a "buy it now" price of $1400. No bids yet.
Good luck

Welcome

Check the link below every couple of days. It shows every fiat for sale on ebay and craigslist as well as few other sites. You can even limit it to a specific year.

Imrgdn,be very careful with ebay! I almost got screwed on a car that didnt exist!! Ebay security is very lax on false ads.Make sure you can talk to the owner, look at the car,or get someone to look at it for you.I made 2- 500 mile round trips to buy my Spider.Worth evey pennyto me) to see exactly what I was getting.Good luck,we will all be keeping our eyes open.

ps...David,that search site is awesome.I always wondered why something like that wasnt around.Didnt look in the right places!!

That's a neat site, David. I spend a lot of time looking over the sites included in that list. Thanks for adding the link!

Has any one checked out Rogers (wodger555) Car? Its listed here as "1969 124 spider ". I don't know how to weld or deal with the rust he described, but he sent me some pics last night and it looks sweeeeet. I just don't know if the expense of fixing the shock towers and floor pans is too much to handle on an otherwise good sounding buy. I don't want to bother him too much, sounds like he and his family are going through a rough time.

Everyone's help and insight has been great.
This is a really cool site.
Thanks to all !!!!
