i thought the relays are like a juction box ,
By changing the alternator to a newer model I was able to rip out the old alternator charging relay since the new alternator have one built-in.
Also ripped out the relays for dual point ignition, starter motor, smog valves and some others that I just don’t need.
All new and rebuilt circuits has new fuses so nothing bad will happened

Jim, do you have a picture of the resistor on your blower motor housing? You should have a red wire and a blue/black wire coming from the motor. These should go straight to the three way on/off switch. Do you have a wiring diagram for your car? It will probably be similar to my 72.

The resistor you're talking about, is it in the fan housing like this?

If so, I don't have any wires connected to mine.

Someone once explained it to be a prehistoric thermostatic control thingy. I don't know how it was supposed to work if it ever did.

There are 4 long metal clips that keep the housing from falling down. Can you see the one in this picture?

i meant the motor , wat holds it in . or does it just slip in the grooves/notches and it stays, i know it sits upright so really it can not go anyplace, am i correct?. as far as the clips to hold the housing up, yes i have them
thank u

the resistor is used to drop the voltage for fan speeds other than high. The resistor will fail immediately if it's not cooled by air from the fan. All cars have the resistor mounted in the air duct so they are cooled by the blower motor

thanks mark./
when and how i have it wired the fan does work on the 2 speed, well at least i am pretty sure it does ,i will check that today,
but lets say it does work on the low and high, would i need that resister?

i guess that was my question

i forgot, the other question was. where the motor slips in that grove , is there some sort of clips that holds it in place ? or does it slide in place and just sit there, i know it can not move either way or come out

I believe there are supposed to be two clips on the fan....the same sort of clips that hold the heater box together. I could be wrong though.

you need the resistor if you want more than 1 speed
