alternator connection
alternator connection
I am refitting the alternator on my '78 1800cc spider. Can anyone tell me if the threaded stud on the back of the alternator at the top receives two wires (brn blk and brn yellow)? psg

Re: alternator connection
The post definetly gets the large (10ga) wires (Black?). Should be pretty easy to tell cause they likely have ring terminals on them right?
The other smaller wire(s) should have a female spade connector and go on the male spade(s). Not real sure if both spades are used on your model. I upgraded my 74's externally regulated to a 79 model 55 amp internally regulated and only used the spade marked D+ (nearer to the post). There are two spades on this alternator but the other isn't used in my situ.

Perfect, as it seemed to be right so I will hook them up and watch for sparks, flashes and ultimately smoke. psg
