Hey, y'all. I have recently come across a 1981 Fiat Spyder 2000 (you'll have to correct me if I'm wrong) it's carburated, so if that makes it an '80 let me know, I got it from my bro in law who bought it on impulse even though at the time I told him he was not the right guy for this car. well, interior is great, body is mostly straight, there is some paint damage from the weather and the top is beautiful. Blue with tan interior and I love how it looks. all of the bumbers and chrome look pretty good but could use a good cleaning/buffing.
Now, I'm not sure if I'm helping him get it running, or if he has no interest in it, but either way i'll be around here often now that I found you all. He took it to a mechanic who is long bone, but the car is still sitting at the shop (gotta love small towns) Since my BIL doesn't know a thing about cars he couldn't relay the diagnosis. At one time I think there was a clogged cat but maybe that got fixed, and he thinks the Dx was either something to do with the Carb (i hear that's common) or the radiator (i know i know, how could you be so confused as to which of those it is?) Anyway, I'll be towing the thing over to my place where I'll be giving it some tender loving care.
First step is to get it running, and pending my BILs standing on it, I might be ablet o move on to bigger and better projects for this car. I'd love to have summer cruises at night in this little beauty and I can never get enough tinkering with cars!!!!!!!

ok, then it's an 80. I just remember that i searched for a ton of info when he bought it and think i found this forum back then and all I remember is that if he had got it one year newer he'd have had FI.So Cal Mark wrote:an 81 model should be fuel injected. Fed cars were carbureted in 80, Calif cars were FI in 80.
