Half a week away now! I'm excited.

I've done nothing on my car since the Turkey Trot myself since then. I've enlisted the help of the industries best to work out what an amateur like me can't quite get done.

First, I took my car up to visit Mark in Upland. Not only did he get the carburator right, but while I was there, my electronic ignition module basically failed. Mark had a spare used one, and now my car doesn't act funny when it is warm!

Brilliant!

Thanks Mark!

second, I got my wheels balanced like a salt-flat racer. Awesome! expensive yes, but incredible result!

I've been looking forward to this since the end of the Turkey Trot!

I got a new camera for Christmas, one that takes quite decent video to be honest, and a HUGE memory card for it. I even made a youtube video of me basically driving around the Long Beach waterfront, that has been well received. but to be honest it was rough, and the camera shook a ton when I was shifting gears. Hard to film with one hand, shift with one hand, and steer with another.. lol so since my pop is going to Tahoe to ski that weekend... I decided I needed to buy a third arm.

Right then, I bought a GPS mount arm with a suction cup for mounting on the glass, and modified it to fit my camera.

Can you say multipart high definition video of a Fiat outing? Published on YouTube? Sweet!

I will be doing some interviews in the parking lot at Starbucks before we leave, a few at the turn, and a few at Jakes when we are done.

When we are at the view spot, with the cool track to "drive by" I will be taking video of the cars that wanna run hard. Every car there will make the video, every car that wants to drive past the camera at speed will make the video. Everyone that has something clever to say will make the video... or oddly enough somthing derogatory to say about me... lol... will also make the video. However.. any negative ccomments on my car will be dealt with harshly in the final edit!...

I may even ask someone to "man the camera" while I take a poke... lol I just hope it LOOKS fast when I am driving past :P

anyway! I'm excited!

I hope to meet some new Fiat Nutz, and see some Fiat Nutz I met last time!

-Ryan

PS, that Lancia Fulvia HF that made it to the Turkey Trot had better show up! I can't remember the owner's name, but that car is straight up awesome! It's killing me that I can't remember his name, cool guy... cool car. someone help me with his name please? As much as I love the 124 Sport Coupe, the Lancia Fulvia HF is just that much better. Was I to buy a hardtop, and had the money... I would buy the Lancia. That one in particular!

I hope our beloved Spiders are worth that kind of money someday. Perhaps we are only a few well made Fiat Spider enthusiast YouTube video's from this becoming a reality! :D one can only hope 8)

cool! I was hoping someone was bringing a video cam. I'll agree, vids of mountain driving may inspire viewers to become owners

Other than Steve mentioning it in his seat belt post, I'm surprised the run hasn't been mentioned yet. I hope this is not an indication of lack of interest in joining up for the day. I for one have been looking forward to it a lot!
Hope to see bunches of you tomorrow.

Seat belts are done, oil and coolant are topped up, and the Eubanks boys are psyched. Can't wait to share my first Fiat event with my two sons.

we're expecting a larger turnout than we had for the Turkey Trot, so you won't want to be at the end of the line!

Hey T.S.,
I see that you feel kinda isolated with your Spider.I am truly jealous of the events and participation of the SoCal group. They are a great bunch of people with a common interest.I live 100 miles from Atl.,where there is a chapter of FLU.We have 1 event a year! :( I sent out emails to members seeing about attending ''The Mitty'',which is the largest vintage racing event in the S.E. Free parties, car corral w/ canopy, swap meet, all day racing, parade laps around Road Atlanta,etc..Just need 20 cars from club or organization.Easy, right! I have gotten ZERO responses!!! None,nada,zip... Little wonder that I am envious of the SoCal guys.
Craig
ps...I'll split the rent on the winter house with you !!!

Wow that is odd, especially with Bayless being there, and the incredible population in the area, keep trying I'll bet you can get more interest!
I have found 3 Spiders in town 1 is in 5000 pieces, two are in a shop covered in dust, they are all for sale, but I am not in a position to buy another one.

It was great! As of yesterday I was thinking we would have a low turn out, but there was at least 30 cars that showed up. I was so hyped to get going this morning, I forgot my camera. Having this many enthusiasts within 100 miles of each other is about the only good thing about living in Taxifornia. Especially considering there is no coon hunting! I even stopped hunting deer when I moved down here, too many Californians would be out there....with guns. I'll tell you what Craig. You stay out there, I'll relocate and then you'd have another Fiat fanatic close by.
There was a gorgeous silver Lancia there today, I can't even remember what the model was. It's a fair sized sedan, I hope someone got a picture of it.
Perfect weather, great people. What a day.
Ron

PS I see Reyy and Mark got pictures of the silver Lancia. Thanks guys, good pics! Also, I forgot to say it was great meeting Steve Eubanks and his sons.

Ron,

It was a Lancia Flavia. I got some video of it, when I was doing a parking lot walk around, but check Mark's photo's on Rey's thread.

I love that car too!

At the same time, who can forget that fantastic Alfa GTV? in dark maroon? gawd... I may be doing some things right.. but the owner of those machines is doing shit waay better than I am. By the way.. same owner. And he is the guy that sold Ed his Fulvia HF!!! Thanks Ed for bringing him out!

I hope to one day be the old guy equivalent of the "crazy old cat woman", and one day become the "crazy old car man". I want to have hundreds of old cars, that mate.. and produce more old cars when I'm not looking.

I'll feed them... I promise!
