Can one of you experts tell me how to bench test a wiper motor?

Thanks,

There were several different motors used over the years. Here's one:

Color Function

GRY/BLK wiper B+
GRY wiper Lo
BLU wiper Hi
BLU/BLK Wiper park
BLK wiper ground
BLU/WHT intermittent pause

You can test by wiring a Radio Shack 276-1661 diode to Park, stripe side Out connect to Lo, and both to +12 VDC along with B+. Test Hi as above, without the diode. Ground to negative of your power source.

My '82 has no high-speed wiper function and I have never been able to pin-point the issue. The high/low switch on the dash is good. Low speed and intermittent both work. Could it be something within the motor itself?

High speed wipers = Low speed and Rainx

on the high speed note; I just did a relay upgrade to the wiper motor and increased the speed about 50%. The next project is to put together a kit with instructions similar to the headlight upgrade kit

I'd be interested in what you came up with on that Mark. I believe Alvon and I were brainstorming that idea years ago and kept rejecting it due to the complexity of the wiper circuit.

I am not saying the wipers are too slow on the high-speed setting. I am saying they stop completely when I switch over to high speed using the switch in the center of the dash. They work fine on low speed and intermittent
