Not New but New in SoCal

Post by fiasco »

Well, I've been pokin' around the forum for a while learning lots and trying to get myself a Spider. After several false starts, I finally bought one this afternoon. It's a 76, and looks like it's in decent condition, though I expect some surprises. SoCalMark is getting it on Monday afternoon to do an expert diagnosis for me. Then I'll find out how much I have to spend on foundational stuff and how much I have left to spend on fun stuff.

Here's a link to an old ebay listing for this car that has a bunch of pics:

I'll post my own pics when I get a chance to take some.

Cheers!

Congratulations Steve! Dang, you just missed a great get run by a couple weeks, the So Cal Annual Turkey Trot. However, we fully expect to meet you and your car at upcoming gatherings.

Yes - I tried so hard to pull it together before the Turkey Trot. You guys practically drove through my neighborhood. You'll see me at the next one.

Actually - now that I have a car that I don't know anything about, I might just have to have some of you guys over for steaks so you can show me how to fix stuff.

You had me at steaks.. lol but add a couple of cases of beer, and you will have more shade tree mechanics than you can handle!

Mark's opinions usually hold far mor weight than the rest of us, so if he chimes in on your issue.. pay attention!

but honestly... there has not been a problem on here that I haven't seen get the correct resolution for yet.

We have quite the blossoming community here in SoCal! Welcome to our world!

here is a video of the Turkey Trot :P

I love learning new things about my new car. For instance, this morning I learned that when it rains, it leaks like a sieve. And while I knew that the windshield wipers don't work, I learned that procrastinating about getting to the store to buy some Rain-X is a great catalyst for Monday morning rain.

At least my wife still has a nice, dry, leather seated, seat warmer equipped car to chauffeur me around in.

Lol, I bought my ex-wife has one of those... but we aren't exactly on speaking terms. so she doesn't drive me around much..
