81 Spider 2000, strange problem.
Engine runs smoothly untill about 5 min of warm up.
At first thought it was a fuel injection problem but seems to feel like an ignition problem. (underload)
I have no acces to parts for swapping, ignition module and such.
Are there any reported issues with ECM failing or ignition switch/wiring problems causing a low voltage condition?
Just trying to get a consensus with other peoples problems
Any help will be grately apprecitated.
Thanks
Andy.
ECM failure?
ecm failures are rare; the only ones I've seen are completely dead. Mostly from batteries hooked up backwards. I've yet to see a Fiat ecm with intermittent problems. Ignition switch failures are common, as well as loose connections at the switch harness that cause the terminals to burn. Intermittent module problems are probably the most common. Replacement modules are cheap these days, I'd suggest replacing it if there is any question about it. Keep the old one as an emergency replacement or for testing purposes
