Oil Return Pipe

Can anyone tell me what the, "oil return pipe" is mentioned in the Haynes manual page 40? It says to make sure it is installed before refitting the oil sump (oil pan). I do not have any extra parts and I don't removing anything but I wonder if I am forgetting something. I have accounted for everything else. psg

it's sort of an s-shaped pipe that bolts to the block inside of the oil pan

Can you help me determine its location? Is it on all 1800's ('78). Where does it go or lead to? thks. psg

We're not talking about the vertical tube that attaches to the side of the block that the dip stick runs through are we?

This puzzles me as well? Is it what is commonly known as the dip stick tube?
