hello, my name is Mick Spencer and i'm from the UK. My car has just got it's first MOT and hopefully by the end of the week will be registered to drive in the UK. It's a 1980 car that was imported to the UK in 1992 from california so has only spent 40% of it's life on the road!

Mick.

Welcome to the forum Mick. If your car was originally sold in California it will be fuel injected. If so, be sure to check the fuel lines as the fuel pressure for the FI is a lot more than the carb'd cars and there have been cases of catastrophic engine bay fires due to bursting lines. A concern for any car, but especially the FI cars.
I 2nd that request for pix of your new baby.

hi, car is now fully registered in the UK and is just getting final touches finished which brings me to what may seem like a daft question but as i've never been close to another spider or spider owner i'm having a few problems working out how the top boot actually fits. in particular what is the actual use of the two rubbers straps in the rear interior panels in relation to the top boot and where do the hooks that hang around near the back seat seat belt apertures actually hook onto (do they hook onto rubber straps?). I've yet to fit the straps in place (the side panels are repro so dont have holes in place), but do have a strap for each side and 2 press stud type screws for each side.
anyways, any help would be great.
I will hopefully get some decent pics of car up sometime this week!

The rubber straps hold down the top before the boot goes on. The square end fits over the top latch and the round end hooks over the small aluminum pegs attached to the rear interior panels. The hooks on the top boot fit into the small holes in the interior rear panels. See pages 14-15 in the owner's manual here.

thanks for that. it was throwing me that everytime i see a picture of a car with the top boot in place the strap had not been used to hold the hood down. obvious now.. cheers!
