MPG

Post by CiscoKid »

So I made it through my first tank of gas after getting the car home. Just in town driving, back in forth to work and 7/11 for lotto tickets, etc. 23.4 MPG.

So just curious, good, bad, about average? ways to boost that up, etc.

Anybody know what the sticker read for an '81 as far as City/Highway back when they were new?

that's pretty decent overall mileage, they were only rated about 24mpg when new and today's fuel doesn't provide mpg as good as the old days

They didn't distinguish between highway and city on the sticker in 1981. It was rated at 25 MPG average. I have an '82 Turbo and get about 29 on the highway, but only around 18-20 in the city (I like to spool up the turbo early and often  )

I end up getting about 25 mpg in my area. Lots of hills and curves everywhere, so she has to work hard. I'm not sure what she gets highway, haven't taken her too far yet hehe.

i drive like i stole the car, all the time. it isn't always how fast you go, but how long it takes you to get up to speed that counts.

i average 26 mpg

Back when I could afford to fill my tank, between 9 and 10 gallons would get me about 250 miles, city/highway combo

18-20 here, very much stop-and-go driving though.

I really need to do a tune up. lol. or slow down... naw, a tune up!

My last tank got me 182 miles... almost all of it rather spirited driving in town.
