Once upon a time, long long ago ....................

Hi all, my name is Jim and once upon a time I had a '71 Spider. 13 years and 2 kids later it no longer fit the family life style that I needed to follow. Now some 25 years later I had the oportunity to pick up a '78 in good running condition with only 76,000 original miles on it. My current wife found it for me(she has been against a sports car for the last several years--too ugly) and told me she thought it was cute. So I'm back in the fold again. The car has a few minor issues that I will be addressing in the coming year and I will be needing your help I am sure. I am looking forward to working with all of you and most of all to the drives up in the mountains where the sheer joy of driving can come out...............and they lived happily ever after.

Welcome to the fold Jim. Yes, there are quite a few of us with similar stories, me among them. Same issues caused me to be Spiderless for 26 years. Practicality got in the way.
Congratulations on your "new" car. We're waiting for the pictures.

Thanks all for the welcome. I live in Ripon, Ca(by Modesto). Pics will have to wait until I figure out how to work wifes camera. Sorry, but pictures have been her job. When I get it figured out I will post them. Until then--its a red 1978 124 Spider with original paint(still has the paint color sticker in the trunk) and a tan top(not original). 13" American Mag wheels. Tan interior(needs replacing) and red carpet that is faded but in good shape.
