Re: Woolly Worm Rally Oct 25th!
You guys missed a great rally!
My sister and her husband came in 9th and my daughter, Randi, and I came in 7th! This is escpecially good since I was fighting a temp gauge where the needle kept swinging like a pendulum (found the radiator leaking last night) and had to drive in the rain for an hour with the damn wiper blades stuck in the up position. Never could get those suckers to lay down, but other than that, the car ran great! The leaves were just turning and the sun broke out. It was a perfect day for a jaunt through the mountains.

Sounds great Denise. Just imagine how you'd have done if your wipers had behaved!
What do you plan on doing for the radiator? I'd suggest stick a sock in it, but I understand y'all don't wear them over there.

I've got a pair, Ron. I just prefer to save my fancy clothes for Sunday. I
I've got several radiators laying around. I'll send one to the radiator shop to be cleaned and tested and swap em out. As for those wipers, I felt a strong urge to just pull the arms off during the rally, but I guess I'll invest in a Bosch motor and see what happens.

Rain is droplets of water that fall from the sky at the most inopportune time, especially if you're planning to drive your Fiat.
Notice the position of the wipers in this pic. This is where they stopped, and I got to drive the whole day looking around them:
But, we had a pretty nice crowd, considering the weather:
And the day turned into a perfect Fiat day!
We did have one mishap during the rally. An immaculate MGB and a Miata were in an accident. The MG sustained a lot of damage and got it's frame tweaked, but everyone was okay. I especially felt bad about the MG beause while we were lined up waiting for the rally to start, I was kidding with the guy about wishing he had a Fiat while he was taking his top off and folding it in the trunk!

I would kid you also about the rain, but at this point they're predicting rain for Sunday, the day of Best of France and Italy!
If that happens, it would be one week late. The weather lately has been perfect for top down driving.

Congrats on the top 10 finish! Friday and Sat. were miserable days here ,you must have been on the edge of the weather.I wish I could have made it for the rally but with football on Fri. night, band competition on Sat, and Geoff's 18th birthday there was no way.I have never tried a rally and I am planning on being there for the spring run.
Craig ps I would have the sock problem too...I have to drive barefoot

Craig, I look forward to seeing you there the first weekend of May. Don't feel bad about the socks. Ron's just jealous that he doesn't have the Blue Ridge Mountains to play on.

I often hear the elders speak of this "rain", but most of us have never experienced it. We have dry lake beds where this "rain" used to collect, or at least that's what the legends say

Is it that dry where you are, Mark? We've been in an extreme drought for most of the year but it's finally been upgraded to moderate and we've already gotten snow in the mountains! That could possibly mean I'll get to wear my brand new snow boots I bought 4 years ago.
