Hi All,
I've been gone for a few years but think that I will have time to get back into my Fiat. A combination of too much work and one of the nuts stripping the threads of the crossmember (during emergency braking) put my 75 spider out for the count.
I'm thinking of picking up a 82 auto spider and moving the things I want to keep from the 75 over. Air dam, springs, shocks, etc. The starter on the 82 does not engage...
I'm thinking that this would be the body to host the 2l engine that I was building and never installed along with a set of IDF's. Most likely an auto to manual conversion too.
Of course I could just sell off the 75 as is and see who wants the 2l engine and pick up a x19
Something to so for the winter - Ethan (in Vancouvuer)

welcome back! Wouldn't it be easier just to fix the front unibody on the 75?

You would think so - The '75 was crashed in the front right years ago (I think that the thread was called Kaboom!) and I had fixed that mostly. Kinda a hack and weld job. I was never satisfied with how it aligned since. So I've been looking for a good body out of the corner of my eyes for a while. A good foundation so to speak of. I could knock out the stud and replace it....

Welcome back Ethan. Don't listen to Mark. He just doesn't want another '82 diehard on the roster.
Whichever way to decide to go, good luck with it.

That woule be an 82 with an 81 2l engine with 4mm dome pistons and a bigvalve head fed by dual IDF. The transmission is yet to be gone over and is from an 81 as well. Most likely would keep the 81 auto rear end at least till I give it a try....
Back to the engine - rebuilt to GC stage 2 specs more or less, lightened flywheel, no fuel pump lobe, dowels in the crank to flywheel, balanced. 80-20 intake with stock exhaust cam.
My choices are to put the 2l engine into the 75 or to put it into something else....
