Can’t go over 3000rpm
Hello from Alaska. I’m new to the forum and I have a 76 Spider that was originally sold here in Fairbanks. It has either 35K miles or 135K miles, It currently starts and runs but when accelerating I cannot get over 3000 rpm’s. My top speed is 60ish. I am getting very low mileage (14mpg) and have black smoke out of exhaust.i have been told that my electric fuel pump may be too strong for the carburetor. I recently installed a Weber upgrade. What is the best match fuel pump to the carburetor?

Welcome! First off, what carburetor and what electric fuel pump do you have?
Fiat switched back and forth between mechanical and electric fuel pumps for the spiders, but I believe a stock '76 should have an electric pump.
It sounds like your engine is running way too rich. Could be an issue with too much fuel pump pressure, and Weber carbs like only 3 or 4 psi of fuel pressure. Maybe 5psi max, but even that is dicey.

Hi
and welcome! First of all: sorry, I can't help you, my technicial skills are absolutely low-level!
But you're from Alaska, thats a Spider nowhere land! Just 8 known cars from there, see here:

No 76 Spider listed, so it would be great to get your car data! a pic would be great too!
Good luck with your problem and nice summer season!
Cheers Ralf

In Alaska, Amazon must be your friend. Don't know how good this one is. Most of us use the Facet square pump available from your vendor of choice. The key things is 2-4 pounds of pressure. I assume carb upgrade is Weber DFEV 32/36.
