Hi,
I removed the spindle nut on the passenger side expecting it to be reverse threaded. It seems someone forced a normal threaded nut onto it in the past. Can I rethread it, or have it done? If yes, any idea what the thread specs are and where to get a die? It’s a 1980 spider 2k.
Thanks!
Jon

Re: Spindle rethread
Wow, just when I thought I'd heard it all.... Well, I'm pretty sure that the spindles are M18x1.5 threads and like you pointed out, the passenger side is reverse threaded while the driver side has normal threads.
Honestly, with that damage, I really suggest getting a new front passenger spindle. Too much risk of the nut loosening up with a repair, and the wheel flopping around. The brake rotor might hold the wheel sort of in place, but it would still be a very bad experience at any speed.

Spindles occasionally pop up on Ebay as well.

Re: Spindle rethread
Some of our Fiat parts suppliers also sell used parts. Often this service is not advertised so you might call the supplier you purchase parts from and see if they have a used spindle.
