32 adfa air correction jets

Post by barnesjtsl »

Going to start trying to tune the carburetor a bit. 32 adfa.

When I change the air correction jets can I reuse the lid/upper gasket? Or do I have to install a new one each time I want to change the jets?

Thanks,

So in my inexperience doing this assumed that I have to take off the top of the carb to change the air correction jets? it looks like I can do this without taking the top off? Am I correct in thinking I can get these out without taking off the top of the carb?

You can reuse the gasket when doing this. Unless the gasket is torn or in really frayed shape, I occasionally reuse them when rebuilding a carb.

As for removing the air corrector jets without removing the top cover, it looks like you might be able to do that, but grabbing the jet once it is unscrewed might be tricky. There are special screwdrivers (usually made for small electronics work) where the blade is split into two, and they can be "expanded" to grab the screw as you pull it out. They're called "holding screwdrivers", although you don't usually use them to initially loosen the screw.

Note that the effects of air corrector jets are pretty subtle, usually to fine tune the mixture within a certain rpm band. For example if you want to richen your high rpms slightly while keeping the lower rpms the same.
