Fuel Injection Relay

Post by HeyHebi »

Been having some issues with the fuel pump and fuel injectors and chasing the wires lead me to a relay. was wondering if anyone happens to have the diagrams for the pins or knows how to test if the relay is bad, the specific model is 0332514121.

And would anyone happen to know where to find this relay in stock or solutions if it is a bad relay?

looks like That #0332514121 is this double Relay

Sorry, Don't know how to test it. The 4 pin and 5 Pin single relays are easy to test, but the Double Relay is more complicated.

I replaced my 42 yr. old questionable Double Relay with the new Solid State Double Relay From AUTORICAMBI
It wasn't cheap at $130 + $18 shipping =$147 but I think it's worth the peace of mind to replace an ancient old Mechanical/Electrical part with a new modern Solid State Part

From My Wiring Diagram Manual here is a picture of the Double Relay Schematic. Might help you to figure out how to test it. I'll try some tests today on my old one and see if I can figure it out too.

If you Right Click on these 2 images and open them in a New Tab you can Zoom In on it or Save it and Print it

unfortunately My wiring Diagram Book has the Wiring Schematics chopped into no less than  58 single pages  so It's a real mind scrambler to figure out how it's all connect. As you can see even the Double Relay (which is a solid one piece component) is even split into the 2 separate pictures I posted above

Here is a link to a Site I found where it Looks like a guy made a great post. Looks like he has the Magic Double Relay all figured out !

https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewt ... p?t=362547

There have been several good articles explaining the function and operation of the double relay, most notably Ratwell's article “Double Relay Demystified” , http://www.ratwell.com/technical/DoubleRelay.html.

Here are 2 of the Schematic Pages for Double Relay and Injection/Fuel Pump, ECU etc ....

Right click on a picture and open it in a New Tab then you can save/enlarge, print etc.

Someone took the time to write a great test procedure for the FI dual relay in Mirafiori.com
You might have to join the site to access the document. Joining is free.
I think the relays themselves are pretty reliable, the female contacts that mate with the relay contacts do become loose and intermittent. Sometimes unplugging and plugging the relays cables in a few times fixes the issue.

Its under: "Guides and tips" and was posted July 20 2022
titled "FI double relay Bench Test and Repair"

Hope this helps

Unfortunately, like most other listings I found, these are all out of stock and that seems to be the case almost everywhere except for a few custom made versions

Luckily I've got all of these diagrams, but so far everything else seems really solid, haven't seen any other issues aside from what seems like it might just be a bad relay.

I was looking at the autoricambi one. I've got a BMW specialist nearby that I'm considering asking to see if he happens to have any since I've also seen them using bosch but it feels like such a mixed bag. Most likely going to have to purchase it from there though
