34 DMSA major kit ?

Post by Rigger178 »

Hi, I need a little advice from the carb experts on this forum.
I have a ‘79 with a 2L and have swapped the manifold to an 1800 intake and have a 34dmsa carb off the ‘74 that I wouldn’t mind using. The problem is I’m having a hard time finding a major rebuild kit from the vendors, they all seem to be minor kits or single pieces.
Fiat plus.com seems to have the kit, but I’m not keen on their “ what is actually delivered is beyond anyone’s control or responsibility” policy.
Or... should I shelve the 34dmsa and buy a knock off. ( I also have 2 ‘77 carbs, I believe they are ADFA, would that be worth rebuilding). Any info would be appreciated. Thx.

Several years ago I looked everywhere as well. No luck. Ended up putting a 32/36 on the 72 before selling it last year.

Thanks Seawood, that’s not what I wanted to hear, but that’s what you get for restoring old stuff.
32/36 is pushing $400 US. Ouch. I see you went injected to avoid this in the future.

Chris Obert of FiatPlus is known to be very competent and reliable, so I doubt you would have an issue with anything that you buy from him. Give him a call, and I'm guessing he can help you out. Just a guess on my part, but each rebuild kit that he gets might have a slightly different mix of rebuild parts, hence the "disclaimer".

If you do decide to scrap your 34DMSA, let me know as I might be interested! :D

PS: The 32ADFA is a good carb, although perhaps not as good as a 34DMSA. So that's an option.
