E-Brake Cable short
Put in my new calipers, installed the e-brake cable, got it all threaded through the rear bars, the hanging-down holder thingys, and the to the "stop" that holds the cable sheathing. The cable would not reach the threaded bolt from the brake handle mechanism. I perceived that the cable sheathing ends were not fully through the "stops" so I tapped them in. Still short, short by about 1/4-1/2 inch. Nothing seems amiss. So I attach it to the cable first and then pull it to the handle mechanism to catch? Or should I have more slack than I do? The one job that sure ought to have been easy...

Re: E-Brake Cable short
I find that my AR e-brake cable will also not install as original. It's too short to fit as factory - I have to skip the 'keepers' (first set of brackets back).

Mine is an '82, cable from Vicks. Was wondering if it was just off enough, been through enough ladafication, to not fit. But which keepers did you skip? The only ones that matter, it seems to me, are those closest to the front, to where the cable attaches. You don't have it in those keepers?

Re: E-Brake Cable short
Best I can do, for the moment. Too short to fit in them, works OK (until I can get back to it,...), and I need to see if my exhaust interferes. Car is gutted right now for crossmember stud repair, but I'll come across the cable again as I re-assemble,...
I'll have to see what I can do then.
In any case, the new cable from AR seems shorter than the original,...fits in the rear keepers fine, but with adjustment fully loosened, I cannot attach the center 'yoke' that fits on the cable to attach to the e-brake lever mechanism. Sounds like it's short about the same as your's,...
Any ideas?

Re: E-Brake Cable short
Sure seems to me to run short. But I need to get the rear end up again and wheels off, just to confirm the cable is in properly in the calipers. Pretty confident they are.
After that I'll get really pissed off again with second rate parts for our cars that don't actually work.
