Hello from Ohio

Post by vanover69 »

Well its been 30 years since Ive owned a Fiat, but here we go again :D
Purchased a 1982 Fiat 2000 a few weeks ago and already donated some blood to the thirsty critter.
After practicing complex yoga positions Ive embarked on replacing the heater core.
As the car was stored for 18 years I know the fun is just beginning
Hope to share my adventures in bringing my spider back to life and learn from the hundreds of others members

Thanks

Today I repaired the heater blower motor and started labeling all the wiring connections.
I like organized and right now the wires look more like a rats nest than I can handle.
Luckily the wiring its mostly original and I can restore back to factory with little time, some heat shrink and a few hundred zip ties.
Next task is I need to reinstall the heater core and heater box before the temp's here are freezing.

Welcome... Glad to see another Ohio owner. I'm in Cincinnati and getting my 2 spiders ready for hibernation.

You've really jumped into the deep end starting with wiring. Fiat wiring is always a frustrating project. The base of knowledge you'll get from 'organizing' it should serve you well though. Make your own diagram as you go...and don't expect that what you have will necessarily match a factory diagram.

I live just outside of Cincinnati near Milford/Loveland
I wanted to store mine, but need to complete a few things before that happens and hopefully before I freeze to death
should have the heater box back in the car tomorrow after work. As for the wiring I going to take it slow as the schematics dont really match the wires. I have two small holes I need to weld before I put the interior back in.
What year is your fiat?

I'm in Montgomery and have 2 spiders...a 79 that I bought a few years ago with less than 24k miles. It's in near original state though I did swap out the intake and carb. The other one is a 72 that's far from original with a 1608, dual Weber's on a waffle manifold, header, rollbar, lowered, etc. I bought that one to mess around with since the 79 doesn't need any wrenching.
