82 Spider 2000 Brookline MA

Post by Weezerwill »

Purchased an 82 Spider 2000 that was originally a turbo (turbo removed) in August. Fun to drive, easy to push! Already replaced front bearings, oil pan gasket, alternator (reason needed to be pushed). Sorting out electrical issues.

Welcome aboard. There are a few of us here in Massachusetts. In normal times we'd meet up at the Larz Anderson "Tutto Italiano."

Hopefully we'll run across each other soon.

AJ, Larz is just down the street and I’ve been for many shows. If you have any recommendations on a good mechanic I’d appreciate it. I’m an engineer so I can usually figure out what’s wrong with the car, but fixing it is another story.

Welcome, There is some really good information on this forum. I have gone to DannyO'Donnel at Fun Imports in Vernon, CT for those things that are out of my range of ambition. If I find a mechanic in the area I will let you know. The last show I went to was Andover Cars and Coffee. I met a few owners there, Was an interesting time.

Hi Weezerwill

In general I try to do things myself (it's a learning experience, although the car can be down for long periods). However I've used Danny O'Donnell at Fun Imported Automotive Toys in Vernon Connecticut when in over my head (like rebuilding a transmission).

Other than him I've only ever used a guy up in NH who did a worse job than I would have, so I wouldn't recommend.

Hi
and welcome! Will you rebuild your Turbo? Probably rare parts!
Can we get your car data for the worldwide Spider Register? We actually got 238 Turbo Spider of the approx. 700 cars built by Legend Industries.

Thanks and good luck!
