First-time Spider from NW Florida

Post by jskinner96 »

Hello everyone! My 17 year old son kept trying to talk me into buying a fixer-upper for us to work on together so he finally sent me a Craigslist link to a real cool looking Fiat Spider that was in a town near us. It hadn't been running in three years and the PO had passed away the week before after an eight year battle with cancer. His daughters were selling off his estate and wanted this "thing" off the property as soon as possible. I checked it out, gave them the money and got a u-haul trailer to take it home. After about 18 hours of work and $250 in parts we got it running and driving around the neighborhood. We've since spent a little more and got it running even better. During my research online looking for parts and finding this great forum I discovered that my son had stumbled upon a 1985.5 Pininfarina Azzurra Spider. This car is all original with paperwork from the day it was purchased, flashlight in the glove compartment, and really original everything! We're having a blast fixing it up and this forum has been a tremendous help. I appreciate that everyone, at some point, had the same problems I had and the answers were within this forum. I look forward to posting and helping if I can.

Welcome to the world of Fiat Spider. I grew up in Pensacola and still have family in that area. I think you will find the folks on this forum very helpful. Keep us posted on your progress.

Nice to see a "local" here in the forum. It should be a great place to cruise around with the top down (in October)!
