Hello from Napa, CA!

Post by naparj »

Just joined the forum and happy to be here! I've owned my Fiat for about 16 years now and have only put about 3K miles on the new (rebuilt) engine. Put it in the shop a couple weeks ago for a water pump replacement and a few other little items from sitting for a LONG time.

Back on the road and ready to drive!

Hey Buddy!

Glad to see someone else here that's local. I'm in Santa Rosa.

Before the whole Covid thing, we had a little get together in Walnut Creek.

And after the whole Covid thing, we have to have another little get together in Walnut Creek! Along with Geospider, greenFiat, toyfiats, scrapironchef, and anyone else that I've missed.

That sounds awesome! Would love to get together with other Fiat enthusiasts. I see road trips in our future....

Beautiful car! Where did you get your steering wheel? I like the thickness of it, and that it's wood. I'm looking for one like that. Beautiful dash, too - did you do that yourself or purchase it?

Guys, count me in for the next drive, assuming I get my new purchase tuned up and smogged in time (see the post just below this one!)

Right now I'm still trying to take it apart :D

But yes, that's on the list this weekend. Along with 5000 other things.

No hurries, Steiny, I just got my '71 Fiat spider approved by the DMV last week, only to find that the #3 spark plug hole is stripped when I went to put in new spark plugs earlier this week.... Sigh...

Gonna pull the head and get that bad boy fixed.

Thanks, I think so! It was restored by Joe of Joe's Fiat in Redwood City. He had the steering wheel, it's mahogany. I picked out the Hawaiian Koa from San Jose. The only thing that's left is the gear shift knob. I have a couple blocks of Koa so it will match the dash. I also have a 500 Lira coin that I want to polish up and have inlaid on the top of the knob.

well, as soon as the pubs open, you all need to hurry.
in need of some in person spider camaraderie.

I'm hearing you, Geo! Can't wait to tell you about the cylinder head issues on my '71 spider. Not that you want to hear them all, of course, but I'd be happy to prattle on about them...!

But hey, me and beer gatherings... kinda goes together like Fiats and electrical issues. :D

That would be now, as it happens. At least in Sonoma County.

Spider meetup at the Russian River Brewery in Windsor, anyone?

A bit far away from Livergulch, but hey, for my Fiat homies, I'll make the trip. Gotta put some miles on the new Jag rear axle bearings, and besides, the Fiat engine is now at the shop. Propose some dates/times.
