Help with electronic distributor wiring
I am in the process of switching from the dual points distributor to an electronic distributor. I have the proper coil and control module. Everything is in place, but I think I am missing a piece of the electrical puzzle. Two wires from the distributor go to one side of the control module, and two from the coil go to the other side of the control module. My question is this: where/how does the current get from the ignition switch to the system? Right now, as it stands, there is no current to the ignition system, as far as I can tell. Have I missed something obvious/ stupid? Thanks for your help.

Re: Help with electronic distributor wiring
Looking at a wire diagram available on Mirafiori.com
I think the original coil wiring had:
A light blue/black wire on the coils B+ terminal. This wire should get reused on the coil packs B+ terminal. It connects the coil to the ignition switch and has power when the ignition switch is in the Start and run positions. Also on the B+ terminal of the coil should be the red wire to the ignition control module and a black wire for the radio noise filter capacitor. ( If a filter capacitor is installed) On the original coils D terminal there was a brown wire that went to a connector on the drivers side fender well. Here it joined with a brown/white wire that went to the ignition mode relay. The ignition more relay is no longer needed with the new solid state ignition. The brown wire is the signal wire to the tachometer and is needed for the tachometer to function. The coils D terminal will also have a black wire that goes to the ignition control module
hope this helps

Re: Help with electronic distributor wiring
Ignition switch gets wired into coil +. That's where the entire system draws current from, including the ICU.
Make sure the wire isn't the ballast resistor type. It should have full +12v when switched at all times, not 9V.
