Help! Dual plane to single plane intake swap.

Post by johnsje6 »

Putting a single plane Intake on my '79, and I see that the port at the front of the head that went to the EGR valve will not be covered by the new intake. Do I just plug it?

Thanks. I blocked it on the exhaust side, seems to work so far.

I am making the same changes to my '80 Fiat Spider (swapping out the old dual plane intake manifold with a new single plane). What did you use to block the now open EGR port? Freeze plug? Tap it and use a threaded plug? Bolt on a cover plate?

I made a paper template, and then fashioned a cover plate for the left-over EGR hole on the intake side. It bolts into the old unused first intake manifold bolt hole,...same bolt secures this metal bracket that I made to hold my old dipstick:

I did not block the exhaust side, just the intake side of the EGR passageway.
