Single Carb Upgrade 1592 Engine

Post by 73CS1592 »

Hi,

I'm looking for some input to see what's the best single carb upgrade for my stock 1592 engine with or w/out slight modifications.
Can I bolt a 34 ADF straight on? DFVE better etc...

Thanks

Opinions vary, but I think viable options would be the 34DMS, 34ADF, or 32/36DFEV. Any of these would bolt directly on, but there may be some issues with throttle linkages, choke, vacuum ports for emissions control, etc. All these can be dealt with. Optimal performance also depends whether you have the stock cams, compression ratio, manifold, exhaust, etc. Plus, the major question is what are you trying to achieve? More low-end torque, maximum HP at 6000 rpm, broader torque curve, or ??

Brad Artigue at the mirafiori.com site has a pretty good summary document of carburetors and engine modifications. Vendors such as the one that sponsor this forum also have expertise in this area.

The 34ADF is a good place to start. Plenty of experience on this forum to help you get it set up right.
