Are our windshields and frames the same through out the years?
I may have a line on a newer windshield and frame from the 80's, The only visible difference I have noticed is that my 83 has a steeper rake than an 81. How about the center cosole pre 83 work on an 83?

Re: Windshield Compatability
Did you check our parts suppliers? AR for example lists the same windshield and gasket as fitting all 124 Spiders from 1966 through 1985 though they are out of stock on the glass.
Midwest Bayless lists the frames as basically the same across all years with the exception of the 81 to 85 having an extra notch for an additional piece of weatherstripping - "Functionally the same across all model years, this frame a notch at the bottom of each leg to fit a separate weatherstrip piece."
See: https://www.midwest-bayless.com/Fiat-12 ... 5-u85.aspx

Up to 1974 according to Bayless the windshields were the same clear glass while from 1975 through 1985 it was the same green tinted windshield.

Between our three main parts suppliers much of the info on parts compatibility is in their parts listings free for all to view.

Re: Windshield Compatability
If you check out the listings at Midwest Bayless they also cover the markings and other things to watch out for to tell if its the thicker/heavier OEM windshields or one of the thinner/lighter aftermarket windshields.
Example: "This is an OEM tinted windshield glass with either Secursiv or St. Gobain makers mark, correct fit and style for 1975-on Fiat or Pininfarina 124 Spider.
You can always tell the difference between an OEM glass and aftermarket by the weight and thickness of the piece. An OEM glass weighs 20lbs, aftermarket 15-16."
Midwest Bayless also notes that the vent windows with frames from the older cars will work on the newer ones so combined with the windshields being interchangeable the rake of the windshield is the same across all years.

Re: Windshield Compatability
This is interesting, because Tim and I noticed a very significant difference in the Rake of the installed windshields, when the cars were parked side by side last weekend. The '83 windshield has a noticeably steeper set than on my '80, although this could certainly use the same frame and glass, with slightly different mounting points on the side attachment points to the car A columns. I doubt that there is that much play in the mounting holes, but I suppose that is possible too.

May be one of the changes Pininfarinna made when they took over production.
