That light was installed to mimic the output of a british sports car. When ever the Spider ran better than what a MG could do, the light flashed for you to slow down.

Oh my gosh a slow down light?? That is tooo funny! Well it kinda makes sense since the speedos and tachs are so off!
I want a speed up light!

you beat me to the punch. i was gonna rig up a red slow down light and a green speed up light onto my center console...

hidden switches between the driver seat and the rocker panel could operate the illumination... and i could fasinate occasional passengers for miles and miles.

you're going to ADD electrical items and wiring? Most owners are looking to simplify. I probably have some of those in parts cars. You could always hook one up to an FI throttle switch, so that when you go full throttle the Slow Down light comes on.

well, set me up Mark. Got my address? i'll take that light.

can i retro a throttle switch onto a carb'd throttle linkage? hmm...

my biggest concern right now is where to find a green lens to put into a stock rectangular light socket.

Sorry guys i dont have a spare. i have a spare set of center dash lights from an '82 but those didnt have one.

im not adding stuff, im removing stuff, alot of stuff. infact i need alot of help on identifying relays and wires that i dont need, all wiring diagrams are rather useless all i want is basic guages, interior lights, and fan. maybe a radio but i already pulled out that harness.

I checked my various parts cars; all of the Slow Down lights have been removed already. I believe they were only used for 2yrs, so the range is rather small
